Bandana Military Hat

This is one of my favorite hats, simply because of the way that it came to be. Several years ago, my children were going to be in the 4th of July parade. They were with a small group of children and were wearing matching shorts and shirts. However, knowing how unforgiving the July sun can be, I wanted to find hats for them to wear, at the last minute of course. So, after scouring every store I could find at 11:00 p.m. on July 3rd, I came home defeated in that I couldn't find a single festive, patriotic hat. My eyes scanned the room where I saw a pile of bandanas sitting on the counter top when inspiration hit! Two hours later, I had three of the cutest hats that I had ever seen!

The potential of this hat is unlimited. It can be made with any regular 22x22 inch bandana, or any other 22x22 inch fabric. It works up quickly and easily. The best thing about this hat is that it gives full sun protection all the while being breezy enough to not make little heads sweat! The hats work up to be 21 inches around, perfect for infants and children!

The hat pattern is available in my pattern shop for $4.99. So, you can make this hat for under $6.00! All other ones that you decide to make will only be $1.00 more (if you shop the super saver Hobby Lobby sales like I do.)

If you are interested in purchasing a completed hat, contact me for a custom order.
